The Daekyo Culture Foundation, in collaboration with the World Youth Culture Foundation and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced on the 30th that it will accept submissions for the 33rd Noonopi Children's Literature Award until August 31.

Now in its 33rd year, the Noonopi Children's Literature Award has established itself as the largest children's literature contest in Korea. It aims to foster the development of children's literature?the foundation of Korean literature?by discovering new writers and providing a platform for creative literary activities by children and youth both in Korea and abroad.

The competition has contributed to the qualitative growth of pure children’s literature at home and overseas, producing many renowned authors and bestsellers, particularly in the fairy tale and picture book categories.

This year’s contest consists of the following categories: Children’s Literature (for new and established writers ? including fairy tales and picture books), Youth Literature (for middle and high school students), Children’s Poetry (for elementary students), Global Literature (open to children worldwide), Plus a special Children’s Cartoon Contest to showcase children's creativity and imagination.

The total prize pool is approximately 100 million KRW (about USD 75,000). The grand prize winners in the fairy tale and picture book categories will receive 20 million KRW and 10 million KRW, respectively. Winning works will also be considered for publication.

Additionally, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award will be given to one grand prize winner in the children’s literature category, and the Minister of Education Award will be awarded to the youth literature grand prize winner.

For more details and submission guidelines, visit the Daekyo Culture Foundation website. Winners will be announced in October.
