Daekyo EduCamp Selected as the Operating Organization for Seoul's North Korean Defector Children’s Learning and Emotional Mentoring Program for Four Consecutive Years
Daekyo EduCamp has been selected as the operating organization for the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s North Korean defector children’s learning and emotional mentoring program for four consecutive years, as announced on the 18th.
With this selection, Daekyo EduCamp plans to actively support North Korean defector children in Seoul in adapting to Korean society through the Dream Mentor program, a psychological and emotional counseling service. The program will run until December of this year and will target children and adolescents from North Korean defector families in Seoul. The Dream Mentor program consists of one-on-one customized home visits, basic learning ability assessments, educational information for parents, emotional mentoring, and career experience programs.
Since 2015, the Dream Mentor program has been providing one-on-one personalized learning support services to improve the basic learning abilities of North Korean defector children. Last year, it provided learning and emotional mentoring services to approximately 120 North Korean defector children residing in Seoul. This year, the program has expanded its support to include slow learners, enhancing the professionalism and uniqueness of the educational service.
A representative of Daekyo EduCamp stated, “We are honored to be selected as the operating organization for four consecutive years and to receive the Seoul Mayor’s Award. We will continue to provide customized educational support services to help North Korean defector children grow up healthily with a sense of responsibility.”
Since 2015, the Dream Mentor program has been providing one-on-one personalized learning support services to North Korean defector children and, since 2022, has been supporting their stable integration into Korean society through emotional mentoring services provided by professional counselors.
