The World Youth Culture Foundation announced that it is accepting applications for the 2026 Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium until May 29 (Friday).

Now in its 27th year, the Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium is a creative art symposium for undergraduate and graduate students from Korea and abroad. It is jointly organized by the World Youth Culture Foundation and the Daekyo Culture Foundation, with support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Arts Council Korea.

This year’s symposium is centered on the theme “Spaces Where Memories Flow,” focusing on expressing the processes through which personal and collective memories are accumulated and transformed through three-dimensional artworks.

The open call is open to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students of art institutions in Korea and overseas who are capable of creating three-dimensional works in fields such as crafts, sculpture, and design. Participants will be selected through a competitive review process.

A total of 24 participants will be selected, consisting of 12 principal artists and 12 assistant artists. The selected participants will reside and work at Chungnam National University from July 24 to August 11 for an intensive 19-day, 18-night creative residency.

To help participants focus on their artistic practice, the World Youth Culture Foundation will provide materials, equipment, studio space, assistant support, accommodation, meals, and exhibition catalog production. Scholarships will be awarded to all participating artists, while creators of outstanding works will receive special scholarships.

The completed works will be exhibited at Ara Art Center in Insadong, Seoul, from August 19 to 24, and will be open to the public.

Applicants interested in participating may submit their applications through the World Youth Culture Foundation’s website.

A representative of the World Youth Culture Foundation stated, “The Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium is more than a venue for creating artworks; it is a creative platform where emerging artists can share their practices and broaden their perspectives through exchange. We will continue to provide opportunities that support the growth of young artists in the future.”
