27th Eye Level Children’s Literature Award
Dr. Kang, Young Joong (chairman of Daekyo Group, founder and chairman of the World Youth and Culture Foundation) attended the 27th Eye Level Children’s Literature Award which was held at Eye Level Hall on December 6.
Daekyo Culture Foundation created this award for the development of children’s literature, the root and hope of Korean literature. It is the largest children’s literature competition in Korea and it has been held annually since 1991.
A total of 272 people were honored in three different categories, ‘adult author’, ‘children’s author’ and ‘global literature.
The ‘adult author award’ was targeted for both new and established writer and total three winners were awarded, two winners in fairy tale book sector and one in picture book sector. The Grand Prize Winner in fairy tale book sector was given to Mr. Jo Hojae who wrote ‘a lying note’ and received a prize of 10,000,000 KRW.
The winner in ‘children’s author’ sector, targeting elementary school student, awarded Minister of Education Prize.
Brielle Michaella T.Mac from Phillipine and Shi Zhan Lim from Malaysia won the Grand Prize in the ‘global literature award category’.
In addition, Yongin Jeil Elementary School won the ‘Book Campaign’, which is a group award for the school that has submitted the most works in the children’s poem writing. A plaque and prize of five million KRW worth of books was awarded to the winner.
