The World Youth Cultural Foundation announced on the 7th that it will hold an exhibition for the 2025 Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium at Gallery 1 of Nodeul Island in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, through Sunday, the 17th.

The Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium is a cultural and artistic support initiative launched in 2000 by Youngjoong Kang, Honorary Chairman of Daekyo Group and Chairman of the World Youth Cultural Foundation. The program aims to discover and nurture emerging talents in the field of sculptural arts.

This year’s symposium, held under the theme “People Who Think About the Future,” featured 12 selected artists and 12 assistant artists from 11 universities nationwide. From July 11, they engaged in an 18-night, 19-day creative residency at Chung-Ang University’s Da Vinci Campus.

The theme was chosen to highlight new possibilities for the future as envisioned through the imagination and creativity of young artists. The program provided a platform to express generational sensitivity and contemporary insight through art.

The participating artists created large-scale sculptures using a variety of materials. The exhibition will showcase around 30 works, including those by prominent past participants of the Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium. Admission is free for anyone interested in the arts.

Since 2021, the World Youth Cultural Foundation has secured the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award for five consecutive years, offering honor and motivation to participating artists. Scholarships, including the Gwayeo Scholarship and the Cheonggang Scholarship, are awarded to outstanding artists, while assistant artists who supported the creative work receive the Friendship Award and additional scholarships.

A representative from the Foundation stated, “We are making continuous efforts to discover new talent in the sculptural arts, a field within fine arts that often receives less attention,” adding, “We will continue our mission to expand the art ecosystem and support the dreams and futures of emerging artists.”
