World Youth & Culture Foundation Hosts ‘2025 Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium’ Exhibition
World Youth & Culture Foundation announced on the 6th that it holds the “2025 Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium” exhibition at Gallery 1, Nodeul Island, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, through September 17 (Sunday).
Established in 2000 by Honorary Chairman Kang Young-Joong, founder of Daekyo Group and current Chairman of the Foundation, the symposium is a representative cultural initiative dedicated to discovering and supporting emerging artists in the field of sculpture.
This year’s symposium, held under the theme “Future Gazer,” brought together 12 selected artists from 11 universities and 12 assistant artists. From July 11, participants engaged in 18 nights and 19 days of creative work at Chung-Ang University’s Da Vinci Campus, experimenting with a wide range of materials.
The exhibition features around 30 works, including large-scale sculptures completed during this year’s program as well as notable pieces by past symposium alumni. Admission is free for all visitors with an interest in sculpture and fine arts, while the gallery will be closed on Mondays and on Liberation Day.
Since 2021, the Foundation has successfully secured the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award for five consecutive years, granting recognition to participating artists. In addition, artists who present outstanding works will receive the Gwa-Yeo Scholarship and the Chung-Gang Scholarship, while assistant artists will be honored with the Friendship Award along with additional scholarships.
A representative from the foundation stated, “We are committed to discovering emerging talents in the less-recognized field of sculpture within the fine arts. Through continued efforts to expand artistic engagement, we aim to contribute to the development of the sculpture arts.”
