The World Youth & Culture Foundation hosts 'Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium' Exhibition
The World Youth & Culture Foundation announced on the 16th that it will hold an exhibition of the "2024 Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium" artworks at the Sejong Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul, until the 26th. The "Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium" is a culture and arts sponsorship project implemented by Kang Young-joong, chairman of the Daekyo Group, who serves as the chairman of the World Youth Culture Foundation, to discover new artists in the since 2000.
This year, a total of 12 people, including those invited from Turkiye, were selected as participating sculptors. A total of 24 artists, including assistant writers, conducted creative activities using various materials at Chungnam National University for 17 nights and 18 days from July 22. The final works can be viewed in the first hall of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. A total of 10 previous artists' works from the Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium are also on display, providing free opportunities to enjoy culture and arts.
In particular, the World Youth Culture Foundation has been striving to honor participating artists by attracting the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award for four consecutive years since 2021. Authors who have submitted outstanding works will be awarded a grant scholarship and a Cheonggang scholarship, while assistants who have supported participating artists' work will be awarded a friendship award and additional scholarship.
"The World Youth Culture Foundation is working to discover new artists in the formative arts field, which is an unpopular area among visual arts," a World Youth Culture Foundation official said. "We plan to contribute to the development of the formative arts field by attracting sponsorship for new artists."
Meanwhile, the World Youth Culture Foundation was certified as a culture and arts medium in 2021 and has been selected as a support project by the Korean Culture and Arts Supporters Association for three years, playing a mediating role between new artists and sponsors.
