APR Medal for Meritorious Contribution to Scouting
Dr. Young - Joong Kang received the first Asia Pacific Regional Medal for his outstanding services to Scouting and young people.
Up his sleeves, Dr. Kang served as Chairman of the Host Organizing Committee of the 38th World Scout Conference and the 10th World Scout Youth Forum held in Korea in 2008. He was also organizer of the 55th BP Fellowship in Korea, also in 2008 and recruited 55 new BP Fellows in one single event. He was Chairman and Vice Chairman of Host Committees for three APR Jamborees in 2004, 2006, and 2010; and a major supporter of CJK Rover project for the last 10 years.

Dr. Young - Joong Kang
Dr. Young - Joong Kang is a self-made man. Hailing from a poor family, he became a role model to the young generation by being actively involved in sports, environment, and education. His successes in his profession and in business enabled him to reach out and help young children from under developed countries through the Daekyo Cultural Foundation and World Youth Cultural Foundation, which he heads.
His quest to continue his noble cause has led him to be actively involved in the Scouting Movement when he became Member of the Board of Directors in 2003; Vice President in 2004; and as the President of the Korea Scout Association.
In his four years as President of KSA, Dr. Kang has donated a total of US$2.1 million to KSA. He committed further to donate US$30,000 annually to the Scout Scholarship; the same way in the last nine years when he was Vice President of KSA.
During the Tsunami Disaster in 2011, he sent 1 million bottles of mineral water to the Scout Association of Japan; and sent one Scout from the Ticket to Life troop in Manila to the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden.

Dr. Kang is member of various Scout Foundations such as Gold Palm Member of APR Foundation; Member of the Chairman’s Circle, BP Fellow of the World Scout Foundation; Member of Olave-Baden Powell Society; and Life-Member of Kandersteg International Scout Center.
For his outstanding services to Scouting and young people, Dr. Young-Joong Kang is conferred the Asia Pacific Regionnal Award for Meritorious Contribution.
