Dr. Kang Young Joong attended the welcoming ceremony of Dream Program 2011.
On 13th of February, Dr. Kang, Young Joong attended the welcoming ceremony of Dream Program which was held in Alpencia Conference Center, PyeongChang Gangwon Province.
Dream Program has invited more than a thousand people from over fifty countries since it was launched in 2004.
During that time, youths from countries with no ice or snow have had the opportunity to learn about winter sports, materializing the Olympic Spirit.
For 10 days until February 21, the program shows the largest number of participants since its start in 2004 that 143 people from 33 different nations have participated. Particularly, it added special value that disabled teenagers has been invited for the first time. 24 disabled from 6 different nations (Philippine, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, South Korea and Kenya) participated and their involvement is to achieve the Olympic spirit of inspiring and embracing today’s youth to build a peaceful and better world.
The Participants will experience various winter sports include Skiing, snowboarding, figure skating, bobsleigh, skeleton, cross country and so on. Also they will visit DMZ museum and Unification Observatory.
Through the speech, Dr. Kang welcomed all of the participants to Korea and wished that they could enjoy times and have the opportunity to experience not only the winter sports, but also to feel the culture and history of Korea.
He strongly believed that he will meet more new friends through international sports and wished to meet again in PyeongChang in 2018.
