President Kang Attends “Youth Hero Prize” Award Ceremony
Korea Scout Association led by President Kang, Young-joong (Chairman of Daekyo Co.) hosted the “Youth Hero Prize” award ceremony on October 5, 2010 at Cultural Art Hall in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, Korea. The Prize was founded in order to find young Koreans who will lead the country in the 21st Century.
The awardees of this year are Ju, Gae-hyeon, Jo, Seong-jin and Park, Seong-hun. Ju, Gae-hyeon was the only Asian to win the First Place Award at the 61st Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (scientific category), Jo, Seong-jin won the first prize at the 2009 Hamamatsu International Piano Competition as the youngest winner ever in the history of the Competition (artistic category) and Park, Seong-hun was the first Asian and Korean to win the Gold Medal at the 40th International Vocational Training Competition in the culinary category (special category).
Since 2007 the Korea Scout Association selects and awards certificates, medals and 10 million won prize money to talented young people every year. The selection is being made in three categories: general category which includes art, sports, culture and education, social volunteering category and special category. Scientific category is newly included this year for the purpose of finding young people with creativity
President Kang attended the 4th Youth Hero Prize Award Ceremony and congratulated the winners together with many distinguished guests from home and abroad.
