Salvation Army launches 2009 Campaign at City Hall Square - donation begins at 300 kettles in 76 areas across the country
The ceremony was attended by President Kang, Young-joong of Korea Scout Association, President Jeon, Byeong-ho of NCCK, Mayor Oh, Se-hoon of Seoul Metropolitan City, Minister Yu, In-chon of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Manager Hong, Myeong-bo of Korea Olympic Soccer Team, Seo, Yu-seok, a singer, President Kam, Gyeong-cheol of CTS, Permanent Board Director Kwon, Taek-myeong of Korea Exchange Bank’s Nanoom Foundation, President Lee, Jae-cheon of CBS, and many other distinguished guests.
During his speech, Territorial Commander Mr. Jeon, Gwang-pyo said, “The year of 2009 is the beginning of another one hundred year for Salvation Army in Korea, and we need to make efforts to help more people who are in need of our help.” “This year, some of our kettles will be traveling around to places including army camps or kindergartens,” he added. Commander Jeon also commented, “being able to share mine with others in itself is a great happiness, and I hope many Korean people will join me and seek this happy sharing.”
This year, some 300 salvation army kettles will be placed at 76 places around the country until December 24th. Nearly 30,000 volunteers will be collecting the donations aimed at approximately 4 billion won this year.
