Dr.Kang participated in 15th of Experience Peaceful Reunification Activities
Korea Scout Association (represented by President Kang, Young-jooing) will be having a ceremony at Imjingak in Paju, Gyeonggi Province at 9 am on August 8th, 2009 attended by members of the Scout Association and youths who will be participating in the 15th Experience Peaceful Reuninification Activities. They will be setting out for a 155-mile walk across the 38th parallel, and they will be arriving at the Reunification Observatory in Goseong-gun, Gangwon Province at 2 pm on August 13th, 2009.
The “Experience Peaceful Reunification Activities” is a program that allows youths to walk across the 155-mile (approx. 249.45km) 38th parallel and experience life and activities in barracks, which will help them recognize the reality of national division and the importance of peace. And this year marks the 15th anniversary of the event.
In particular, President Kang, who is taking part in the event for the forth time, will join them for a series of training on August 11th at Camp Thunderbolt of the 15th Division of Korean Army, where he did his military service 30 years ago.
“I learned how to strengthen my mental power while being trained here 30 years ago. I hope that our youths could also grow their leadership so that they will be able to fight whatever challenges they might face,” said President Kang.
