Dr. Kang takes office as the chief director of Bong-Ahm Educational Foundation

In 20 August 2008, the inaugural ceremony of Bong-Ahm Educational Foundation chief director was held at Myongji Foreign Language High School, which is in its fifth year of opening. About 150 guests, consist of the school board including former minister of education Yong-lin Moon and professor of Yonsei University Joon-sang Han, parents, students and faculty members, attended the ceremony.

It’s been 33 years since Dr. Kang dedicated himself to the educational business under the motto of “Learning by teaching, teaching by learning.” He said, “Through my hand-on experience in overseas operation and President of Badminton World Federation, I thought it is necessary to nurture children into global leaders who can be active in the international arena. Also, hosting the World Scout Conference and the World Scout Youth Forum, I realized the importance of language skills and global mind. That’s why I made up my mind to establish world-class schools. It is meaningful in terms of corporate social responsibility as well.”

At the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Kang suggested three ways to enhance the quality of the school’s education: establishing a basis for a prestigious school by carrying out Myongji development project, creating the global environment through the overseas network, nurturing the gifted who have both good character and a great sensitivity.

He also said, “I’ll do my best to support the school in order for it to be the top Korean high school and world-class secondary school in ten years. Radical reform and development is essential. The school board, faculty members, students, and parents should work together to achieve the goal. Remember, we are all in the same boat.”

After the ceremony, Dr. Kang and the school board planted a commemorative tree.

The Chief director, Dr. Young-joong Kang, is currently chairman of Daekyo Group, who also serves as President of Korea Scout Association, President of Badminton World Federation, and an adjunct professor of Ewha Womans University.
