Co-presidents for the integrated national body
Dr. Kang, president of Korea Council of Sports For All (KOCOSA) attended founders’ meeting which was held on March 7th.
During this meeting, Dr. Kang and Kim Jung-Haeng, president of Korean Olympic Committee were appointed as co-president of the Korean Sports & Olympic Committee (tentatively named) until the election for new president on October 2016.
Both organizations have been working on integration for a month and March 27th is the deadline for the integration. Although IOC’s Deputy Director General Pere Miro recommended to postponed the merger until after the Rio Olympic, IOC said they will support the merger and agree on time frame for the process after meeting between Korean delegates and IOC delegates hold on March 4th.
President Dr. Kang and Mr. Kim said they will strive for development in sports from the grassroots level to elite level.
