President Kang, Young-joong attends the 2010 All England Open Badminton Championships
President Kang, Young-joong of the Badminton World Federation visited Birmingham, U.K. on March 11th in order to attend the 2010 All England Open Badminton Championships that was held from March 9 to 14th. The Championships, drawing approximately 300 athletes from 29 countries, was participated by the world’s top players, and various events were held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Championships.
President Kang also chaired the BWF’s first Executive Board Meeting in 2010 on March 13th and discussed with members ways to further develop the Super Series tournaments. Together with President Ben Yoneyama of Yonex, IOC’s Executive Board Member Sir Craig Reedie and Presidnet John Havers of Badminton England, he was invited to a dinner hosted by Lord Mayor Michael Wilkes of Birmingham to celebrate the 100th anniversary. The dinner was a meaningful occasion where all the badminton family from around the globe gathered to look back at the sport’s history as well as to look into its future.
