President Kang, Young-joong invited by the International Olympic Committee to attend the 13th IOC Congress & 121st IOC Session.
President Kang, Young-joong of BWF was invited by the International Olympic Committee to attend the 13th IOC Congress & 121st IOC Session that was held from October 1st to October 9th in Copenhagen, Denmark. This event was very meaningful in that the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games was selected, President of IOC was re-elected for the third term and some IOC members were newly elected. This event was the greatest in scale in 15 years since the last time they had an IOC Congress was 15 years ago in Paris and drew attention from around the world.
During this IOC Session, Jacques Rogge was re-elected for the third time, allowing him to lead the organization for another four years. In addition, Mario Pescante from Italy and Ser Miang Ng from Singapore were elected as Vice Presidents. Craig Reedie from the U.K. and John Coates from Australia were elected as members of the Executive Committee. Five new members will join the IOC, thus making a total of 112 IOC members. The number of female IOC members increased to 17.
